Motion

Motion tokens are not defined yet. Use these principles until they land.

  • Fast and functional

    Prefer 120–200ms for state changes (hover, focus, open). Longer than 200ms starts to feel slow in dense UIs.

  • Ease out, not in-out

    Interactions ease out so the payoff is immediate. Reserve in-out for large layout changes.

  • Respect prefers-reduced-motion

    Wrap non-essential animation with @media (prefers-reduced-motion: reduce) and collapse to opacity or nothing.

  • No decorative animation

    If it doesn't communicate state, it doesn't belong. This is a data tool.
